Matthew B. Goetz, MD is Professor of Clinical Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, and Associate Program Director of the UCLA Multicampus Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program.
Dr. Goetz serves on several National VHA Advisory Groups including the HIV Technical Advisory Group, Medical Advisory Panel to the Pharmacy Benefits Management Group, the Antimicrobial Stewardship Taskforce, and the Infectious Diseases Field Advisory Committee. He has previously served on the FDA Anti-Microbial Drug Advisory Committee.
Dr. Goetz has been an investigator on projects sponsored by the VA, NIH and the CDC that have addressed strategies to improve diagnoses, linkage to care and assessments of long-term outcomes in HIV infected patients. Dr. Goetz has also led multi-site interventional studies to improve inpatient antimicrobial stewardship. He is a member of the editorial advisory board of Clinical Infectious Diseases and JAIDS: Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes. He has published over 200 per-reviewed articles.
