Nandini Vallath is a Professor at the Department of Pain and Palliative Medicine, St Johns National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru, India, and a consultant at the Palliative Care Division, National Cancer Grid–India. Her main areas of interest are equity in access to care, clinical care protocols, education in palliative care, policy, and advocacy. She has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and was one of the editors for the third edition of the Oxford Handbook of Palliative Care. She was also helped to organise the Quality Improvement training (EQuIP) in India and was a member of the working group for International Society of Nephrology. Dr Vallath is a coordinator of the National Cancer Grid palliative care guidelines, a convenor of Integrated Modules in Palliative Care in Cancer Training–Head and Neck Oncology (IMPaCT-HN), and part of the board of trustees from GRAAM—Grassroots Research & Advocacy Movement on public policy. She received the Cancer Aid Society Award for Excellence and Leadership across SAARC countries in 2014.
