Tania Pastrana, RWTH Aachen University, Germany
Tania Pastrana received a medical degree from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), a degree in sociology, social anthropology, and social psychology from the University of Munich (Germany), and a Doctorate in Medical Anthropology and Psychosomatic from the University of Munich and the Max Planck Institute. Since 2007, Tania has been working at the Department of Palliative Medicine at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany), where she leads the WG Global Palliative Care. She was elected as President of the Latin American Association for Palliative Care (ALCP) 2016–18 and 2018–20. She is author of several publications about the situation of palliative care in Latin America including the Atlas of Palliative Care in Latin America. She serves as research adviser to the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), a global membership organszation dedicated to the development of palliative care.
