Yi-Long Wu is a tenured professor of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences and Guangdong Lung Cancer Institute. He is the Past President of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO, 2013–17) and the President of Chinese Thoracic Oncology Group(C-TONG). He served as a Member of Board of Directors of the International Association Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) from 2013to 2017 and is a past member of the staging committee of the IASLC (2009–17).
He graduated from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1982 and completed his thoracic surgery training in Germany in 1989. His main research interests are the multidisciplinary therapy on lung cancer in translation medicine and evidence-based medicine in oncology. He plays a leadership role in Chinese lung cancer clinical research and has been the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator of more than 50 international or national multicentre clinical trials. He has contributed to 20 books on cancer and has published more than 450 articles in peer-reviewed journals including New Engl J Med, J Clin Oncol, Lancet Oncol, Ann Oncol, and J Thorac Oncol. He played important role in adjuvant target treatment for resected non-small-cell lung cancer. ADAURA, ADJUVANT/CTONG1104, and EMERGING/CTONG1103 were the most important papers in this field. He also serves on the editorial boards of Nature Review Clinical Oncology, Annual of Oncology, Lung Cancer, and Annals of Surgical Oncology.
He received the IASLC Science/Paul A Bunn Jr MD awards in 2015 and Awards of Highly Cited Research in the field of Clinical Medicine 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
