Laura Coates, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor and consultant rheumatologist in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) at the University of Oxford, UK. Laura’s research focuses on psoriatic arthritis (PsA); she has been involved with multiple observational and interventional studies in PsA including early diagnosis of PsA, development of PsA-specific and validated outcome measures, and optimal treatment pathways and strategies in PsA. She is chair of the British PsA Consortium (BritPACT). Laura has published peer-reviewed articles including on development of screening questionnaires to identify PsA, and outcome measures of disease activity. She is the first author of the GRAPPA/OMERACT treatment recommendations for PsA, and the TICOPA study which demonstrated the benefit of a treat to target approach in PsA. In 2019-2021, she chaired the EULAR taskforce on Gender Equity in Academic Rheumatology.
